13 And suddenly there was with the angel a multitude of the heavenly host praising God and saying,
14 “Glory to God in the highest, and on earth peace among those with whom he is pleased!”
(Luke 2:13 - 14)
A senior member from another church once told his friend that he was "going to Glory" (referring to attending our church, of course). Immediately, both of them burst into laughter. They caught the humour that he was on his way to meet Christ immediately! This joyful misunderstanding serves as a reminder of the ultimate glory that we, as disciples of Christ, anticipate meeting Christ face-to-face. It also reflects the immediate presence of Jesus' glory in our lives and communities, a glory that can start transforming us even now.
Jesus' glory is not static; it is dynamic and transformative. It reaches into the complexities of our human experience, bringing peace and favour from God. As members of the body of Christ, we are called to carry this glory into our community, not just as a future hope but as a present reality.
The glory of Jesus Christ brings reconciliation where there is division, hope where there is despair, and peace where there is turmoil. By living out the values of His kingdom, we actively participate in the transformation of our surroundings, reflecting His light in every interaction.
Prayer
Lord Jesus, Your glory fills the heavens and the earth. Your glory illuminates our lives. Help us to carry the brilliance of Your love into every corner of our community. May Your peace, which surpasses all understanding, guide our hearts and actions as we commit to live out Your call. Strengthen us to be agents of change, embodying Your grace and truth in a world that needs Your salvation. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
Reflective Questions
How can I more actively reflect the glory of Jesus in my community?
In what specific ways can I bring peace and reconciliation to my immediate surroundings?
How does the peace of Christ influence my responses to challenges and my interactions with others?
